Treating Black Men Who Have Experienced Sexual Trauma (Archived)

Vincent Walford, PhD, MPH

Overall, 1 in 6 men have experienced some form of unwanted or abusive sexual encounter before age 18. Males also make up 10% of the total population of those who have experienced sexual abuse. However, this percentage could be higher due to men not disclosing their experience. Dr. Walford prepares clinicians on how to work with African American male survivors of sexual trauma. He will review building rapport, discussing myths, and identifying useful coping mechanisms specific to working with male survivors.
