Licensing boards have specific requirements for the number of CEs and types of CE needed for license renewal. Each licensing board is the primary source of information on these requirements. If you have license renewal questions, please contact your licensing board. We have board websites listed online. You cannot redeem credit for watching a live and archived version of the same webinar course.
Registration name and email address are maintained in Elevate and Zoom for registration processing and attendance purposes and may be logged to your National Register account.
For access to our continuing education program, you must be an actively credentialed member of the National Register, a Practice Academy member, or registered as a paid per-session attendee. Credentialed HSPs and Practice Academy members have access to unlimited continuing education credits as part of their annual membership fee. Individual courses may be purchased by non-members. Interested in becoming a member? Apply for the Health Service Psychologist credential or join the Practice Academy.

Also on the homepage is a list of upcoming live webinars.
Course Details
When you browse courses, you can find essential information for each course by clicking “course details.” The full list of courses includes live webinars, archived webinars, and publications and the courses details section outlines the description and continuing education information for each course.
Course Registration
Either while browsing course options or after clicking into a course page, you can register for a course by clicking the green “register” button. Each course has a member and nonmember price, so be sure to log in to see your accurate pricing.
After you have registered for a course, you can get back to the course details at any time by navigating back to “My Courses/Registrations” and clicking on the course title.
Course Completion
For live webinars, navigate to the “Live Webinar” course component and “Join Webinar” at the scheduled time. You must attend the full live webinar to be marked as attended and for the post-test to unlock. If a scheduling conflict comes up for the live webinar, you can access the archived webinar instead.
For archived webinars, navigate to the “Archived Webinar” course component and “Watch Archived Webinar.” You must actively watch the full video to be marked as attended and for the post-test to unlock. Here are some viewing tips:
- The video window must be your computer's selected and active window, or that time will not count as viewing.
- If you start the video but minimize the window so that the video is playing but you are only listening, that time does not count as viewing.
- If you start the video, but cover over the video with another window, that time does not count as viewing.
- If you start the video but select a different tab, that time does not count as viewing.
- If you see a message "You need to continue watching this video to meet the minimum required time" then you have not finished the webinar.
For article publications, such as for the Journal of Health Service Psychology and Pragmatic Case Studies in Psychotherapy, navigate to the “Article” course component and “Read Article.”
For longer publications in the Advances in Psychotherapy Hogrefe book series, you will first need to purchase the book through Hogrefe’s website by navigating to the “Hogrefe Book” course component and “Purchase Book.”
For all courses, you will have two attempts to pass the post-test to unlock your certificate.
Course Certificates
Once you have successfully completed the course, you will have access to the certificate on the course details page. If you need a NY certificate, there is a course component to request the NY certificate.
Once your certificate has been generated, you can access it again at any time under the “CE Certificates” menu item.
Frequently Asked Questions
I attended a live webinar and my course details show that I’ve been marked as attended but my post-test will not unlock. What do I do?
If you are on the course page, refresh your browser window. If that still doesn’t work, email CESupport@nationalregister.org for assistance.
If you have navigated away from the course page, go to "My Courses/Registrations," and then click the title of the course to get back to the course page.
How do I refresh my browser?
Each internet browser has the option to "refresh" or "reload" the page. See a few example images here:
I'm encountering an error when joining a live webinar. What can I do?
Make sure your desktop or mobile Zoom application is up to date. To do this, "check for updates" in the desktop app or run an update for the app on your mobile device.
In some situations, your device and/or browser may need to be updated as well.
I earned a certificate, but I don’t know how to download it. What steps should I take?
Click "view/print certificate," and at the top of the next page click "Print this page." When prompted to choose a printing destination, select "Save as PDF"
I only need to display certain certificates. How can I filter my CE certificates?
After navigating to the CE Certificate menu, you can use the filters at the top to select "Filter by date" or "Filter by type." NY certificates are associated with the "credit hour" type.
Why can't I download or print the JHSP articles?
JHSP articles are available as read-only files for our CE courses. If you would like full access to JHSP articles, contact the National Register to add "Electronic access to the Journal of Health Service Psychology" to your annual membership (includes a small additional charge). There are options to zoom in and out of the article text, and to change the color theme for visibilility. Members who hold the National Register HSP Credential also receive a printed, mailed copy of the Journal of Health Service Psychology.
What do I need in order to take a course?
To take a course, you'll need a device with internet access. For article-based courses, answers must be entered online to earn credit, whether or not you read the article in print or online. Video- and webinar-based courses are not available for offline viewing; you must be connected to the internet for the entire duration of the presentation in order to receive credit. Please contact the National Register directly to request accommodation needed to access the National Register's continuing education program.
I failed a post-test. What is a passing score?
In order to pass a course, you must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the post-test. You have two attempts per course—after exhausting those, you are no longer eligible to receive continuing education credit for that particular course. Once a course has been passed, you may not take that course in the future for continuing education credit. Please note that the National Register does not release answer keys regardless of post-test results.
