Evolutionary Issues in Psychological Ethics: Boundaries, Money, and Tech (Archived)

Gerald P. Koocher, PhD, ABPP

Three “hot topics” of current concern to psychologists as a result of evolving practice in the post-COVID era include managing professional boundaries, finances and economics, and the role of emerging technologies in psychological practice. Each third of this three-hour workshop will focus on one on these content areas with special attention to ethics and best practices. Dr. Gerry Koocher will begin by considering traditional professional boundary limits and progress to evolving issues related to accessing online information. He will move on to consider evolving practices in health care reimbursement, the cost-benefit ratio of training for psychological practice, and the ethics of non-participation in reimbursement systems. Dr. Koocher will wrap up with a focus on ethical considerations in adopting and adapting to technologies related to psychological practice including artificial intelligence systems.
